ARAPAHOE -- Esther Wallace Farrington, 97, formerly of Edison and Arapahoe area died Saturday (Sept. 27, 2008) in New Jersey.

She was born Oct. 5, 1910, at Edison to Clyde and Lillian (Bishop) Fleharty. She grew up in the Edison area, graduating from Edison High School.

She attended Hastings College at Hastings, graduating with a elementary teaching degree.

She moved to New Jersey and married James F. Wallace on Feb. 4, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1969.

She married Warren Farrington in New Jersey. He died in 2001. She taught elementary school for 30 years in New Jersey. She was a resident of Little Silver, N.J., for 62 years.

She was active in the Red Banks, N.J., United Methodist Church, where she was a receptionist for 16 years retiring in 1996. She was also named Woman of the Year in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James Wallace and Warren Farrington; and two sisters, Madge Hill and Ilda Dodson.

Survivors include her son, Richard Wallace and wife, Cynthia of Eatontown, N.J.; step-sons, Warren Farrington Jr. of Greenville Junction, N.J., and Doug Farrington of Hilton Head, S.C.; step-daughter, Joyce Hall of Bennington, Vt.; sister, Gladys and husband, Ray Aldrich of McCook; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church at Arapahoe with the Rev. Mike Flury officiating. Burial will follow at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe with the family present from 3-6 p.m.
