Elma C. Ashley

OBERLIN -- Elma C. Ashley, 88, died Monday (July 28, 2008) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Decatur County to Hugh and Mabel (Beam) Cramer. She grew up on a farm in Decatur County, before moving to Oberlin. She attended Decatur Community High School and graduated in 1938.
On Dec. 20, 1941, she married Donald J. Ashley in Norton, Kan. They lived on a farm northwest of Selden, where she worked as a homemaker. She later moved to Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both of Selden and Order of Eastern Star of Oberlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Mabel Cramer and husband, Donald on March 5, 2005.
Survivors include her sons, Larry and wife, Linda of Loveland, Colo., and Kent and wife, Tenna of Selden; daughter, Karen Bennett and husband, Frank of Oberlin; brother, Phyl and wife, Connie Cramer of Oberlin; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Br. John Paulson officiating. Interment will be in the Selden Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Selden American Legion Auxiliary and Cedar Living Center.
