Amtrak passenger jailed in McCook on charges of dealing drugs
LINCOLN -- A 21-year-old Indianapolis, Indiana man was arrested and charged with possession of pharmaceuticals and delivery of pharmaceuticals after he allegedly sold drugs to an investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol.
On Tuesday at approximately 3: 25 p.m., an investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol was returning to Nebraska from Winter Park, Colo., aboard an Amtrak Train. The investigator was on his off-time as a parent-sponsor of a senior ski trip.
During the return trip home, one of the students was approached by a man who offered the student marijuana or pills. Once the train crossed into Nebraska, the investigator made contact with the male subject and bought two hydrocodone pills from him. A few minutes later he identified himself as a Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol and took the suspect into arrest. A call was made to the McCook Police Department and officers met the train during a scheduled stop in
McCook.
The suspect 21-year-old Matthew Hughes of Indianapolis, Indiana, was lodged in the Red Willow County Jail on charges of Possession of Pharmaceuticals and Delivery of Pharmaceuticals as well as Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
