OBERLIN -- Fred W. Bremer, 82, died Friday (March 7, 2008) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Norton, Kan., to George and Leola (Wood) Bremer. He grew up in Dresden, Kan., and attended school in Dresden. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944.

He enlisted in the military and served during World War II and the Korean War.

He married Henrietta A. Olson on June 6, 1948, in Oberlin. He worked as a farmer and lived on a farm south of Oberlin in the Custer Township.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 70 and Mountain Slope Lodge No. 186.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leola (Wood) Bremer.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Bremer of Oberlin.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Decatur County Hospital and Cedar Living Center.
