James A. Mutschler

STRATTON --James A. Mutschler, 71, of Stratton, died Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2008), at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.
He was born Dec. 11, 1936, at Geneva, Iowa to Fred and Maria (Sailer) Mutschler, and grew up in the Geneva area where he attended school.
He served in the U.S. Army and after receiving his honorable discharge began his career as a bricklayer.
He was united in marriage to Lois Afseth and lived near Cheyenne, Wyo., with his family. After his retirement in 2006, he moved to Stratton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maria Mutschler; his wife, Lois in 2002; brothers, Elmer Mutschler, Lester Mutschler and Marvin Mutschler; and one sister, Dorothy Dohlman.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Erickson of Cheyenne, Wyo., Julie Hayes and husband, Robert of Carpenter, Wyo.; his son, Michael Erickson and wife, Allissa of Culbertson; sisters, Frieda Emerson of Eula City, Calif., Ann Wekurt of Iowa Falls, Iowa; brothers, Rich Mutschler of Lacrosse, Wis., Ed Mutschler of Bradford, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be Friday, 3:30 p.m., at the Weiderspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne, Wyo. No local services are planned.
