Bison JV netters 9th at Kearney
KEARNEY -- The McCook High School junior varsity boys tennis team finished ninth at the 10-team Kearney JV Invite Monday.
The Bison scored 36 points.
Kearney Blue edged out Grand Island 114-104 for the team title.
McCook's Ethan Hardin posted a 2-1 record at No. 2 singles. The No. 2 doubles team of Zach Baker and J.P. Tapia also finished 2-1.
"I was pleased to have the opportunity to get our junior varsity some extra matches," said McCook tennis coach Matt Wiemers. "This was a tough invite with quite a few Class A teams. It also was a great chance to let the guys see where they are and where they need to improve.
"I thought the team played hard and competed well, it was just against some excellent competition. The invite also gave us the chance to see some new teams we usually do not play."
The Bison junior varsity will wrap up its season Thursday at home against North Platte at 3:30 p.m.
The varsity plays Scottsbluff and Alliance at Alliance at 1:30 p.m. mountain time today and hosts North Platte at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
