Indians host Hastings JV, Northeastern JC tonight
The McCook Community College volleyball team dropped a hard-fought four-set match to Otero Junior College, LaJunta, Colo., Tuesday night at True Hall Gymnasium.
The Indians lost 31-33, 30-26, 30-28, 30-24. MCC is now 6-19.
MCC coach Gary Payne said he thought that we played a good match Tuesday night.
"Our hitting last night very good," Payne said. "As a team last night we hit .237, which is very good. I believe that probably the second or third best hitting percentage as team for the year.
"Our serving right now is terrible. When you miss as many serves like we did last night, we can't expect to win many close matches.
"I really believe that has cost us a few matches this year. Overall, we are a much improved team and these girls play with a lot of heart and desire and I believe that will help us with the rest of the season."
McCook hosts the Hastings College junior varsity and No. 19-ranked Northeastern Junior College at 5 p.m. tonight.
The Indians play Western Nebraska CC at Scottsbluff at 6 p.m. central time/5 p.m. mountain time Saturday.
Next week, MCC has three home matches -- Tuesday against North Platte CC (Tuesday), Trinidad State (Oct. 4) and Lamar CC (Oct. 5).
All three matches start at 7 p.m.
