Area football, volleyball teams ranked in polls
Several area high school football and volleyball teams are ranked in polls in Nebraska and Kansas.
The McCook Bison football team (2-0) is ranked No. 1 in Nebraska Clkass B by the Lincoln Journal-Star and No. 2 by the Omaha World Herald. The Bison host Aurora Friday night for homecoming.
In Class C-2, Perkins County (3-0) and Cambridge (2-0) are ranked third and sixth by the OWH and fifth and sixth by the LJS.
In Class D-1, Wauneta-Palisade (2-0) and Hayes Center (2-0) are ranked sixth and seventh by the OWH. Wauneta-Palisade is ranked eighth by the LJS.
In Class D-2, Wallace (2-0) in ranked eighth by the LJS.
In Kansas Class 2-1A, St. Francis (2-0) is ranked second behind Smith Center (2-0) by the Hutchinson News, fourth by the Wichita Eagle and is listed in "others" by the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Leading the ranked volleyball teams from the area are Cambridge (5-1), Class C-2, fourth OWH and sixth LJS; Eustis-Farnam (3-1), Class D-1, sixth LJS; Hitchcock County (8-0), Class D-2, seventh LJS and seventh in OMH; and Rawlins County-Atwood, Kansas Class 1A, fifth, Topeka Capital-Journal.
