Doug Brooks of Arapahoe, a coordinator of the one-year-old "Arapahoe MX" race track, shows off during the Holbrook Days parade, drumming up business for races Sunday, July 15. Coordinators invite spectators and racers to come watch or participate with the top professional and amateur motocross riders in Nebraska and Kansas. The 1.1-mile long track -- the only shaded track in four states -- includes a 120-foot catapult jump with several step-ups, even one that measures 100 feet. The track is located one-half mile north of Arapahoe on Highway 283, on the west side. Practice rounds begin at 9 a.m., and racing starts at 11 a.m. Overnight camping is available. Cash and trophies will be awarded.
