McCook Bison golfers finish season at district

OGALLALA -- McCook's boys finished the season in the Nebraska Class B-4 district meet in Ogallala Monday.

The tournament was played at the West Wind Golf Club.

The Bison ended the day in ninth place with a team score of 354.

Sidney, Scottsbluff and Gering earned a trip to the state tournament.

Sidney won the meet, with Scottsbluff following in second and Gering in third.

Austin Miller of Gering won the individual standings with a total of 73, Kyle Huss followed in second with a 74 and Matthew Landen was third for Scottsbluff.

Aaron Goodenberger led the Bison with 36-47-83. Eric Rippen followed with 42-47-89, Joe Vetrovsky 47-43-90, Adam Kruger 44-48-92 and Lance Korte 44-52-96.

qualifies for state

KISMET -- The Decatur Community (Oberlin) boys golf team finished sixth in the Kansas 3A regionals Monday and has one golfer going onto the state meet in Cheney next Monday.

The Class 3A regional was hosted by Southwestern Heights High School.

Breck Simonsson led the Red Devils finishing fifth individually with a score of 38-40-78.

"This is Breck's third trip to the state meet," said Oberlin coach Dick Ahlberg.

"This was a quality regional, the two qualifying teams will do fine at the state meet. We really miss these seniors, they have had a good golfing career for DCHS."

Jobey Black followed Simonsson with 44-39-83, Andy Gilliam 44-40-84 and Corey Cook 43-48-91. Jordan Tally 44-49-93 and Kurt Olson 49-55-104.

Lakin and Phillipsburg finished first and second in the meet, and will take their players to the state tournament.

BERTRAND -- Cambridge's golfers won the Bertrand Invitational last Thursday.

Southern Valley also competed in the meet and finished fourth behind Alma and Franklin.

Bo Cribelli led the Trojans finishing sixth in the individual standings with a day total of 37-40-77.

Catlin Rice followed in ninth with 39-39-78 and Jackson Johnson was 14th with an 39-41-80.

Dylan Knuth placed 10th for Southern Valley with a 41-37-78.

Josh Murdoch totaled 39-43-82, Matt Hoxmeier had 44-40-84, Jeff Sladky had 44-41-85 and Michael Hoxmeier had 52-41-93.

Taylor Lewis posted 39-42-81 for the Cambridge Trojans and Troy Hayes was 40-43-83.

Cambridge and Southern Valley are competing in district competition today.

Southern Valley competes at the Class C1-5 district tournament at North Platte.

Cambridge hosts the Class C2-4 district.
