Saturday, April 21, 2007

Mid-Plains Community College governors will be asked to approve a low bid of $73,325 for renovation of parts of a McCook Community College building this summer.

The request is on the agenda for the governors' regular meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Tipton Hall on the MCC campus in McCook.

Part of the college's capital improvement plan, the Barnett Hall biology labs and classrooms are set for renovation this summer.

The bid covers all new wood casework, two fume hoods and installation. College president Dr. Michael Chipps recommends approval of the low bid.

The president also recommends that a revised program statement for the proposed MCC Events Center be approved and forwarded to the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education for its decision at a May 17 meeting.

Also on the agenda will be recognition of Dr. Richard Tubbs as recipient of the 2007 Phi Theta Kappa Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction, and recognition of PTK and Phi Beta Lambda award winners.

Upcoming events include commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. May 11 in McCook and 3 p.m. in North Platte; a board retreat at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Dancing Leaf Earth Lodge, and a board meeting at the Imperial Extended Campus on May 23.

The July 25 board meeting is again set for McCook.
