Crick named WCC Freshman Golfer of the Year

LOMPOC, Calif. (Gozags.com) -- Gonzaga University junior Trevor Loe and freshman Brandon Crick each shot a final-round 74 Tuesday to move into a tie for ninth in the 40th annual West Coast Conference Championship at La Purisima Golf Course.

Brandon Crick earned WCC Freshman of the Year honors.

Crick and Loe earned All-WCC honorable mention honors, and Crick was voted the Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches, the first such honor for a Bulldog.

Both golfers shot a final-round 74, Loe posting rounds of 78-73 on Monday while Crick shot 72-79 over the 7,105-yard, par 72 course.

They finished at 225, 10 strokes behind medalist Brian Locke of Loyola Marymount University. Locke finished at 215 with rounds of 77-69-69 to defend the title he won a year ago as a freshman.

Pepperdine University took the team title with an 892 for a 7-stroke victory over the University of San Diego. Gonzaga finished seventh at 921.?
