ELWOOD -- Eustis-Farnam had a hard time slowing down hot Elwood team, losing a makeup game 65-39 Tuesday night.

Elwood's Bryson Mahlberg and Stephen Schults combined for 45 of Elwood's 65 points.

Mahlberg scoring 26 and Schultz 19.

Derek Williams scored 12 points for the Knights and Drew Wetovick added 10.

"Our game plan was to slow Elwood down with our defense and to get the ball inside on offense," said coach Bobby Johnson.

"This strategy was working great for most of the first quarter, then they turned up the heat with good shooting and transition offense.

"While this was happening, we did not convert on many good opportunities. As a team, we were very nervous and this caused some stretches with many turnovers.

"Elwood is a good team but the final score does not reflect how good of a team we can be."

Elwood improved to 7-5 and Eustis-Farnam dropped to 4-6.

Eustis-Farnam plays at Arapahoe Saturday.
