Vera M. (Torbert) Fichtner Teel

VALENTINE -- Vera M. (Torbert) Fichtner Teel, 96, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2006) at Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine.

She was born southwest of Maywood to Ralph and Mamie Torbert.

She married Chester "Chet" H. Fichtner. They lived on a farm and ranched west of Maywood, where she worked as a homemaker.

After Chet passed away on July 5, 1952, she moved to McCook, where she worked in a ladies apparel store for many years.

On May 10, 1957, she married Wayne Teel. They also farmed and ranched. They retired and moved back to McCook. Wayne passed away in 1993. She moved to Willow Ridge Assistant Living in McCook until 2004, when she moved to Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine.

She was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Chester and Wayne.

Survivors include her daughter, Audrey Engel and husband, John of Valentine, one grandson, and two great grandsons.

Graveside services were Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Maywood Cemetery.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was in charge of arrangements.
