Girls Sub-District Championship Games: Eustis-Farnam squad squeezes by Cambridge
Eustis-Farnam's girls basketball team overpowered a tough Cambridge squad 37-31 in the Nebraska D1-11 finals Thursday.
The Cambridge Trojans took the lead in the first quarter but struggled in the second and third, allowing the Knights to pull ahead and take the win.
"As is usually the case, our defense carried us again," said Knights Coach Bad Dunlap.
"The girls played with an intensity level on the defensive end that is hard to match.Our goal this time of year is one win at a time and now we are one win from completing our big picture and a trip to state."
Lisa Fagot scored 17 points to lead the Knights.
Jessika Lehmann, Tara Schultheiss, Jordan Rieker and Katie Fagot put in 4 points each.
Schultheiss was the top rebounder with 7.
Fagot had 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Lehmann followed with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
Traci Keyser led Cambridge with 13 points. Kymbre Lytle, Shelby Schultz and Bailey Soucie posted 5 points apiece.
Eustis-Farnam will play Wauneta-Palisade in the district finals.

NORTH PLATTE -- Southern Valley fell to Cozad in the final game of C1-11 sub-district action Thursday 40-39.
Megan Becker took top scoring honors for the Southern Valley Eagles with 17 points.
Ashley Strickland had 9 points and Mallory Murdoch had 7.
Mallory Nutt led Cozad with 16 points. Venny Alub, Kayla Tropenka and Amanda Francescatol had 6 points.

Kaine Alberts totaled 14 points for the Broncos. Betsy Anderjaska followed with 12 points and Brandi Fanning had 9.
Echo Steele led the Tigers with 10 points. Vanessa Shill had 8 points and Jessica Davis had 3.
