Four area grapplers reach state semis

OMAHA -- Four area wrestlers advanced to the semifinals at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships at the Qwest Center in Omaha.

The semifinals will be contested Friday and the finals Saturday.

In Class C 215 pounds Thursday, Southern Valley's Dan Stoelting pinned his first round opponent and won a decision in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals round.

Two Wauneta-Palisade wrestlers reached the semifinals in Class D.

Ar 130 pounds, Jesse West decisioned Casey Schalk, Cedar Rapids, 8-4 in thr quarterfinals.

At 145 pounds, Bronco teammate Jake Smith defeated Phillip Cunningham, Nebraska Christian, 12-0 in the quarterfinals.

In the 215-pound quarterfinal match, Cambridge's Bronson Soucie pinned Brody Friedrich, Osmond, 3:16, to reach the semifinals.

McCook sophomore Sam Frazier, the lone Bison representative in Class B, lost his first-round match 10-1 to Aurora's Drew Weedin.
