NORTH PLATTE -- Floyd L. Nicholson, 92, died Saturday (Jan. 21, 2006) at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

He was born March 7, 1913, to William and Grace (Morland) Nicholson at Beaver City. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1932 and attended Barnes Business College in Denver, Colo.

He then moved to Dundy County and married Vada E. Powell on Sept. 12, 1940. 

In 1957, Floyd began working for the City of Benkelman as the city clerk and treasurer. He retired from his position in 1985.  The couple remained in Benkelman until 2002, when they moved to North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace Nicholson, and one grandson, Rob Lehmer.

Survivors include his wife, Vada Nicholson of North Platte; daughters, Deanna O'Donnell and husband, Les of North Platte and Nici Lehmer of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Bula Adkinson of Benkelman and Lola Alsbury of Imperial; sister-in-law, Wilma Grace Powell; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. (MT), at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Max United Methodist Church or to the Max Community Center.
