Cambridge teams sweep Hayes Center

CAMBRIDGE -- Cambridge's girls and boys basketball teams swept Hayes Center Saturday.

The girls won 48-23 and the boys 61-50.

Waid Vontz contributed 33 points to the Cambridge win. Anthony Lytle trailed with 11 points.

Vontz also led in rebounds with 9. Lytle and Brian Ballou had 5 rebounds.

Bailey Soucie led the Cambridge girls to the win with 13 points. Traci Keyser posted 10 points.

Cristin Bruckman followed with 7 points and Kymbre Lytle had 6.

Shelby Schultz led in rebounds with 11. Keyser had 9 rebounds.

Joseph Frecks was the top scorer for the Cardinals with 13 points. Levi Tyan and Jerry Deaver each had 9 points.

Jake Rowley had 6 points. Frecks was also the top rebounder.

Lichelle Large led the Lady Cardinals with 7 points.

Kayla Bauer followed with 5 points. Josie Rosno had 4 points. Large had 7 rebounds and Large had 9. Susan Maucher led in steals with 2.

BENKELMAN -- Arapahoe's girls and boys pushed past Dundy County Saturday.

The Warrior girls won their game 60-41 and the boys won 68-35.

Blake Maaske kept the Warriors 12-0 with 27 points. Tony Braithwait posted 11 points.

Adam Borden had 8 points and Ryan Stagemeyer had 9.

Cheryl Braithwait was the leading scorer for the Warrior girls with 18 points.

Abbey Breinig followed with 16 points. Trio Hollie Thomas, Jennie Clinton and Alesa Paulson each posted 6 points.

Kyle Glidden led the Tigers with 10 points. Dusty Birge had 7 points and Jeremy Boon had 5.

Dundy County's Echo Steele led the girls with 26 points. Britni Rosenfelt had 5 points and Vanessa Shill had 4.

SOUTHWEST -- Southwest's girls fell to North Platte-St. Pats Saturday 54-26.

"This is another state rated ball club," said Southwest coach Dennis Troester.

"We played with them the first quarter but turnovers killed us."

Lisa Lord led Southwest in scoring with 13. Alisha Weaver had 5 points and Abby Houghtelling had 3.

Weaver led in rebounds with 9. Cayla Skaritka led in steals with 3 and had 10 turnovers.

WAUNETA --In one of the spotlight games of the week, Perkins County and Wauneta- Palisade battle it out Friday night.

The Broncos managed to take the ovetime win 74-69.

Stephanie Padilla contributed 25 points to the Broncos' win.

Blair Dixon tailed with 17 points. Betsy Anderjaska followed with 16 points and Allison Ellicott had 7.

Debi Johnson led the battle for Perkins County with 20 points.

Sara Wilson followed with 18 points.

Abby McClosky had 9 points.

Carlie Sis and Brionni White scored 8 points each.

EUSTIS -- Eustis-Farnam's girls bolted past Callaway Saturday 40-31.

"We played excellent defense the entire evening and made some free throws in the fourth quarter," said Knights' coach Brad Dunlap.

"Callaway played some tough man defense and made us earn everything tonight. We'll take the W and get ready for two tough games next week."

Chelsea Wolf led the Knights with 11 points.

Jessika Lehmann had 8 points and Lisa Fagot had 7. Wolf also led in rebounds with 10.

Jordan Rieker had 2 assists and Tara Schultheiss had 2 steals. Lehmann had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Whitney Jenkins led Callaway with 9 points. Emily Jorgenson had 6 points.

QUINTER -- Decatur Community (Oberlin) boys fell to Quinter Saturday 76-34.

"We did not handle Quinter's pressure defense," said Oberlin coach Dick Ahlberg.

Quinter's Tyler Reed had an outstanding shooting night with five 3-pointers and 30 points.

Andy Inman was the top scorer for Oberlin with 8 points.

Nolan May had 6 points and teammates Lucas Juenemann and Logan Fortin both had 5.

May was the leading rebounder with 7. Inman also led in rebounds with 6 and 4 assists. Fortin had 2 steals.

Blackwell had 12 points. Machen finished with 8 points and Finger had 7.

Oberlin plays Cambridge on Tuesday in the first round of the Oberlin Invite tournament.
