NORTH PLATTE -- Celia Lawyer, 93, died Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Cozad to George Joseph and Hattie Purdy Bodell.
She married George Marquette on June 27, 1929, in Julesburg, Colo. She married Leonard Lawyer in Sterling, Colo., on June 14, 1972.
She worked for Townsend Manufacturing Plant in Sutherland, TRW in Ogallala, the nursing home in Sutherland, was the Justice of Peace in Sutherland and worked at E.S.U. in North Platte. She also did volunteer work.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George Marquette and Leonard Lawyer; daughters, Wanda June Marquette and Lavonne "Bonnie" Tepley; grandson, Randy Marquette; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Marquette; brother, Glen Bodell; four sisters, Ruth Wilson, Grace Bodell, Georgia Johnson and Ethel McConnell.
Survivors include three sons, Gordon and wife, Bonnie Marquette of Trenton, George Marquette of Paxton and Mike and wife, Michelle Lawyer of Omaha; a sister, June Barnerd of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, 9:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in North Platte with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Sutherland.
Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
