NCTA Aggie spikers in close encounter

HAVILAND, Kan. -- The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture women's volleyball team played a couple of very tight games in Haviland, Kan., on Monday as the Aggies lost to Union College of Lincoln in four sets and came back to win against host Barclay College in five sets.

In the opening match of the Barclay Triangular, the Aggies played Union College very close as Union won 30-21, 29-31, 31-29, 30-17.

Codi Staub of Johnstown and Jenny Prior of Hastings served 20 and 15 points to lead the Aggies. The team also had a season-high 17 blocks.

The second match was no different with scores of 27-30, 30-21, 30-18 and 15-13.

Sharina Buoy of Bassett helped the cause in the second game. With the score tied at 26-26 she stepped up to the line and served 4 aces to win the game. Again the team blocked 15 attacks by the opposition.

Emily Cone of Burwell was a perfect 10 for 10 serving and had 5 kills. Kaytlyn Cooksey of Roggen was nearly perfect with her sets.

The Aggies host the UNK Club team of Kearney at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
