GRAND ISLAND -- The McCook High School boys golf team placed ninth at the Grand Island Invitational Saturday with a 329 score.

Lincoln Southwest won the team title with a 291 score, followed by Lincoln East with 295 and Omaha Creighton Prep 296.

McCook's Brandon Crick earned the Bison squad's lone medal with a 12th-place finish. Crick fired a 39 on the front nine holes and 38 on the back nine for a 77.

Brett Chmiel and Garrett Rippen both fired 80s. Kelly Maiden shot a 92 and Matt Fulton 94.

"We had solid play from Brandon, Brett and Garrett," said McCook boys golf coach Dan Hilton. "Brandon was a little disappointed with his overall putting, but he chipped on hole 11 where he carded a double eagle.

"We have got to find the fourth and fifth player that is consistently going to shoot in the low 80s and get down to the score we need to be at the compete for first place in our own tournaments."

McCook will compete in a dual at North Platte at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
