IMPERIAL -- Lela M. (Wonderly) Snyder, 80, died Monday (March 28, 2005) at her home in Imperial.

She was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Oberlin to Ellsworth and Hazel (Ellis) Wonderly. She grew up and attended school in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High School in 1942. After graduation, she was employed in Sidney.

On May 23, 1944, she married Peter Snyder Sr in Kimball. The couple settled in Imperial where she was employed at the Coordes Variety Store, taught country school and managed the local Ben Franklin store for 27 years. She was also an aide and social services director for the Imperial Manor Nursing Home for around 20 years.

She was a member of the Crossroads Wesleyan Church of Imperial.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Sr in 1975; and four brothers, Virgil, Edward, Rex, Jim and Donald Lee Wonderly.

Survivors include three sons, John Snyder of Elwood, Peter Snyder and wife, Beverly of Imperial and Gary Dean Snyder of Imperial; three daughters, Delores Richey of Imperial, Sharon Orrell of McCook and Carol Glassel and husband, Bob of Loysville, Pa.; sisters, Doris Bedford and husband, Raymond Moberly, Mo., and Lois Hember of Missouri Valley, Iowa; brothers, Red Wonderly of Bird City and Lanny Wonderly of Elwood; sister-in-law, Helen Coker of Sutherland; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 2 p.m. (MST), at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial with Daniel Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Visitation is Friday, 2-6 p.m. (MST), at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial.

A memorial has been established to the Community Hospital Home, Health and Hospice of McCook.
