MCC softball drops pair
LA JUNTA, Colo. -- The McCook Community College softball team traveled to La Junta, Colo., for a doubleheader and suffered two more losses.
Otero won the first game 11-0 and the second game 10-2.
In the first game, Megan Peterson led the Indians in hitting going 2 for 3, but the Indians left 6 stranded and committed 2 errors.
Peterson pitched four innings, allowed 12 hits and 11 runs (eight earned), struck out none and walked none.
In the second game Sabrina Davis had a two-run home-run, on of the three hits that MCC had.
Jenn Giles pitched five innings, allowed 12 hits and 10 runs (seven earned), walked two and struck out four.
"In spite of the scores, we did not play badly," said MCC softball coach Scott Wacker. "We had two errors in each game but they are correctable."
"As one of the girls said at the post game talk, without the fourerrors and the five home runs we were in a position to win. Great attitudes and youthful optimism are fun to be around."
The MCC softball team will host Colby Thursday at the JC Sports Complex at 2 p.m.
