Arapahoe boys edge Cambridge

ARAPAHOE -- In the game of the night No. 7 ranked Arapahoe boys faced the No. 8 ranked Cambridge Trojans. In a hard fought game the Warriors walk away with the big win 72-65. This game may have also been a preview to an upcoming sub-district game where these two RVL power houses may meet again.

Cambridge played the Warriors tight for most of the game until the thrid quarter when Arapahoe made a run to put some distance between them and the Trojans. Waid Vontz put the Trojans on his back in the fourth to get close but could not overcome the deficit.

Arapahoe had three players score 20 or more points, Tony Braithwait led the Warriors with 24 hitting 6 of 12 from behind the arc. Mike Cacy and Blake Maaske each added 20.

Waid Vontz and Anthony Lytle each turned in impressive performances, Vontz scored 28 and Lytle had 22.

Arapahoe improves its record to 14-3 and will host Hitchcock County on Saturday.

Cambridge drops to 12-6 and will travel to Dundy County on Saturday.

ARAPAHOE -- The No. 6 Cambridge Trojan girls traveled to Arapahoe Friday night and came away with a big win 64-42.

Cambridge dominated from the outset posting 21 points in the first quarter while only allowing Arapahoe 6.

After the game Cambridge girls coach Andy Long said, "We came out intense tonight from the beginning and forced them to play a full court game. All of our players stepped up tonight and we got really good play from the bench."

Shelby Shultz led the Trojans in scoring with 17 points.

Arapahoe was led by Cheryl Braithwait with 20 points.
