Elwyn H. Hansen

NORTH PLATTE -- Elwyn H. Hansen, 84, died Monday (Dec. 27, 2004) at his home in North Platte.
He was born May 10, 1920, to Hans and Mary Wilgus Hansen south of North Platte. He graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1937. During high school and following he worked for the University of Nebraska Experimental Station.
He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp Dec. 31, 1941, serving until 1945 in the South Pacific.
On Oct. 10, 1945, he married Phyllis Smith in North Platte. He has been employed with Kunkel Auto and worked for Cornhusker Tractor and Equipment for 34 years from which he retired as part owner. After his retirement he was employed by Ag and Auto Diesel Services for 14 years as a sales representative.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 52 years. He had numerous positions in the church and volunteered many hours on the construction of the church building. He was also a member of the PR Halligan Post No. 163 of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Eileen; three brothers, George, Eugene and an infant.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of North Platte; two daughters, Rogene and husband, Jim Wenburg of Beaver City and Renae and husband, Jim Sexson of North Platte; one sister, Ardith and husband, Wayne Smith of North Platte; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hansen of Carpenteria, Calif., and Ruth Hansen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 1:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church in North Platte with the Rev. Tom Wiles officiating. Interment will be in North Platte Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation is today, until 9 p.m., and Thursday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte.
