Reward increased to $12,000 in rural assault
Red Willow County Sheriff Gene Mahon announced this morning that the reward for information leading to the conviction of the man wanted for a sexual assault northeast of McCook in August has increased by another $2,000.
The reward for information about 24-year-old Jose Cruz Cepeda-Lopez now stands at $12,000.
Mahon's officers, U.S. marshals and officers from the FBI continue to investigate the incident during which a McCook teenager was sexually assault in her rural McCook home on Aug. 31.
Mahon said the man may have returned to Mexico.
Cepeda-Lopez is charged with first-degree sexual assault and false imprisonment, burglary and theft.
Cepeda-Lopez is de-scribed as about 6 feet tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He may or may not be wearing a mustache and goatee.
