Irene I. Stagemeyer

HOLBROOK -- Irene Isabelle Stagemeyer, 92, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 2004) at her son's home in Holbrook.
She was born Dec. 26, 1911, to Johann G. and Emma (Sydow) Wendland in Gosper County. She attended school at the Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School.
On May 25, 1932, she married Gustav Stagemeyer at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Arapahoe. They made their home on a farm north of Holbrook. She worked at the CA Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe as a certified nursing assistant for 25 years. The couple moved to Arapahoe in June of 1967, where she lived until moving into her son's home.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML of Arapahoe. She served many years as a 4-H leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin Stagemeyer; step-father, Wilhelm Schievelbein; brothers, John Wendland, Arthur, Reinhardt, Glen and Leo Schievelbein; and daughter-in-law, Doris Stagemeyer.
Survivors include one son, Irlee and wife, Rosemary Stagemeyer of Holbrook; daughter, Marlene and husband, Jerry Bachman of Missoula, Mont.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthews Cemetery in Arapahoe.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, and prior to church services at the church.
