Elwyn Krausnick

WAUNETA -- Elwyn Leo Krausnick, 87, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 2004) at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
He was born Jan. 3, 1917, to Fredrick W. and Edith M. (Johnson) Krausnick in Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada. At the age of four, he moved with his mother and brother, Keith, to Blessing, Texas. After his father completed mechanic's school, the family moved to Wauneta. He attended school there and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1935. He then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he majored in pharmacy.
On Nov. 9, 1938, he married Viola Sophia Nordhausen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Wauneta. The couple farmed and ranched west of Wauneta.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wauneta. He was a former member of the Wauneta School Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith; and sister-in-law, Elna Krausnick.
Survivors include his wife, Viola of Wauneta; two sons, Fredrick and wife, Betty of Wauneta and Kenneth of Imperial; two daughters, Janet Egle and husband, Dennis of Stratton and Denise Parrow-Krausnick of Imperial; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m. (MDT), at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Judy Dye officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Visitation is Wednesday, 2-6 p.m. (MDT), at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.
Memorials may be given in his name to the United Methodist Church of Wauneta or the Wauneta Public Library.
