High powered, unbeaten football teams in action

Thursday, September 30, 2004

As many of you know, McCook hosts Hastings in high school football action Friday night.

The Bison go for consecutive win number 31.

The Bison defense showed signs of being mortal when Gering lit them up for 7 points.

There are other games around the area that should prove to be a little more interesting.

Like Gordon (4-0) traveling to Imperial to take on Chase County (5-0).

Chase County competes in arguably the deepest class in the state.

There are 11 unbeaten teams in C1 football. There are three one loss teams ranked in the top ten.

Gordon will travel into Imperial on Friday night to take on the Chase County Longhorns.

Gordon is coming into this game looking to get back into the playoffs.

If Gordon is going to the playoffs, it won't be at the expense of the Longhorns.

Chase County has only given up 12 points this year, and are averaging over 30 points a game.

This will be a nice little test for Chase County's highly anticipated game against second ranked Chadron next week.

Cambridge is 4-0 and ranked second in their defense of the Class C2 state championship.

They will be visited by North Platte St. Pat's (3-1) on Friday.

NPSP is ranked fifth in C2 and are the Trojans toughest test this year. On paper.

Cambridge barely held on against Amherst two weeks ago.

NPSP will definitely test Cambridge.

The Irish are giving up 13 points a game. Cambridge is scoring over 30 points a game.

Cambridge is only giving up nine points per game. The Irish are scoring almost 39 a game.

This game was number 16 on Huskerland Prep Report's games of the year forecast.

You can see why.

Wallace, ranked seventh in D2, will try to stay unbeaten when they host Wheatland.

Wallace dropped Paxton last week with a 45-point rule win.

Wheatland (2-2) was the victim of the same type of win. They lost to Hayes Center 54-8.

Hayes Center (4-0) hosts South Platte.

Arapahoe (4-0) is still unbeaten and are ranked fifth in D1. They will be at Eustis-Farnam on Friday.

Eustis-Farnam is 0-4 and are coming off of a 40-6 drubbing at the hands of Callaway.

Wauneta-Palisade (2-2) will travel to Crawford (4-0).

Crawford, ranked eighth in D1, defeated Dundy County last week in four overtimes.

Wauneta-Palisade defeated Leyton last week.
