ATWOOD -- Samuel J. "Sam" Adams, 42, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 2004) at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kan.

He was born Nov. 4, 1961, to Hubert and Berneice Adams in Colby. He was raised on the family farm. He attended Beamgard Learning Center in Atwood and graduated from there.

He lived with his mother until her death and then he spent the last few years at Plumb Street Group Home in Atwood and worked at the Prairie Development Center.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Beamgard Learning Center Boy Scouts, an honorary member of the American Legion and Sam Hubbard Post No. 46 of Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg; and grandparents.

Survivors include his brothers, Mark Adams of Colby and Jim Adams of Denver, Colo.; and three sisters, Gayle and husband, Tom James of Lenora, Kan., Margo and husband, Hal Irwin of Houston, Texas and Jacqui and husband, Pat Haffner of Tasco, Kan.

A Mass of Christian burial is Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in rural Atwood.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home.

A parish vigil and rosary will be said today, 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Prairie Development Center in Atwood and left at the funeral home.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of the arrangements.
