WAUNETA -- Gertrude Mae Geseking, 88, of Wauneta, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born Oct. 1, 1915, to Merlin Austin and Mary Anne (Huff) Freeman of Ottumwa, Iowa. She attended school in Ottumwa and Alton, Ill.

On Feb. 18, 1932, she married Herbert F. Geseking in Lancaster, Mo. She lived in Palisade since 1954.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Ottumwa. She was a past member of the Nebraska Federated Woman's Club, VFW Auxiliary, Untied Methodist Women and Club 13.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert on Oct. 27, 1997; one son, Terry Allen; a brother, Andrew; two sisters, Mary B. Blackman and V. Margaret Schuttlefield; two half-sisters, Zelma Gunther and Emily Stone.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Lula Freeman of Arlington, Va.

Graveside services are Thursday, 11 a.m., at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Palisade United Methodist Church.
