Francis D. Burton

BEAVER CITY -- Francis D. Burton, 84, died Friday (Sept. 10, 2004) at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City.
He was born April 3, 1920, to William Arthur and Elma Etta (Hodgekin) Burton near Bartley. He attended country school then graduated from Bartley High School in 1937. He farmed north of Bartley.
On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Goldene Probasco in McCook. The family lived on the farm moving to town November 1979. He farmed until 1990 when he retired.
He was a member of the McCook Elks and the Kemper Memorial United Methodist Church of Bartley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Goldene of Bartley; three daughters, Connie Joseph of The Woodlands, Texas, Cheryl Seyler of Holdrege and Cindy and husband, Terry Ohlson of Garden City, Kan.; one brother, Merlyn and wife, Donna Burton of Bartley; two sisters, Audrey Troester of McCook and Marion and husband, Harold Raburn of Holdrege; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday, 10 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church of Cambridge with Roy Hart Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Bartley Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name and left at the mortuary.
