Emma Marie Walker, 96, died Monday (Sept. 6, 2004) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born Oct. 15, 1907, to Henry and Anna (Volerth) Pollmann in Culbertson. She attended rural school near Culbertson.
On Jan. 12, 1929, she married Martin Walker in McCook. They lived and farmed in the Prairie Union community from 1929-1956, when they moved to their farm home north of Beverly and lived there until 1982. After her husband died in 1982, she moved to Palisade. She became a resident of the Hidden Pines Assisted Living in McCook in 2000 and for the last two years she was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Friendly Neighbor Club, Beverly Ladies Aide and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; four brothers, Earl, Walter, John and Henry; and two sisters, Anna and Minnie.
Survivors include a son, Richard Walker and wife, Doris of Golden, Colo.; a daughters, Barbara Cumpston and husband, Donald of Weeping Water; three sisters, Christina Relph, Hanna Hein and Louise Coburn, all of McCook; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 10 a.m., at the Palisade United Methodist Church with the Rev. Judy Dye officiating. Interment will be in the Palisade Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 5 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Palisade United Methodist Church and the Masonic Star Home for Children of Fremont.
