IMPERIAL -- Audra Nadene Romine, 87, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 2004) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.

She was born May 17, 1917, to John Thomas and Maude Alice (Stock) Kerns in Wauneta. She attended country school and graduated from Wauneta Public High School in 1933. She continued her education at the Chillicothe School of Business in Missouri. She then traveled to Kansas City, Mo., where she was employed with Royal Typewriter Company.

In 1936, she married Wesley Bunker. The couple made their home in Kansas City until 1940. They then moved to Indiana and then to Nebraska after World War II, settling on the Kerns Ranch near Max. She later moved to Wauneta.

In May of 1949, she married Kenneth Romine. The couple lived on a farm stead south of Hamlet. He preceded her in death in February of 1967, when she moved to Wauneta where she began her career with Harchelroad Motors, which lasted around 27 years.

She served on several boards in the Wauneta community and was a member of the United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for many years, the Eden Sunshine Club and the Rebecca's.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Kerns; and husband, Kenneth.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie "Patricia" Maynard of Spirit Lake, Idaho; one son, Richard Romine of Wauneta; brother-in-law, Lloyd Romine and wife, Phyllis of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. (MST), at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Judy Dye officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

Visitation is today until 6 p.m. (MST), at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta.

Memorials may be given to the Wauneta Public Library.
