Betty L. Murphy

ARAPAHOE -- Betty L. Murphy, 78, died Saturday (Aug. 28, 2004) at the Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Nov. 15, 1925, to Everett and Mabel (Kraay) DeMoss near Wilsonville. She graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1942. She attended Hastings Beauty School where she received her beauty operator's license.
In 1944, she married Raymond Mohr.
On July 2, 1955, she married James Murphy. She operated her own beauty shop in her home in Wilsonville for over 30 years. She moved to Heritage Plaza in 2000, later to assisted living and as her health failed, she moved to Good Samaritan Center.
She worked as a volunteer for many years at the Wilsonville Library. She was a member of the Double 8's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; one brother, Donald "Jud"; one sister, Lucille; and a son-in-law, Rodger Holtze.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherrill and husband, Jim Hayes of Lincoln, Linda and husband, Floyd Slay of Dauphin Island, Ala., Rebecca and husband, Jim Holtze of Wilsonville; one son, Craig and wife, Joanne Mohr of Eagle; two sisters, Pearl Taylor of Portland, Ore., and Wanda Wolfe of Grand Island; one brother-in-law, Dale Murphy of Wilsonville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the Wilsonville Baptist Christian Church. Interment will be in Wilsonville Cemetery.
There will be a private viewing.
Memorials may be left in her name to the Wilsonville Cemetery.
