A rural Herndon man, charged in Red Willow County Court Monday for sexual assault of an inmate at the Nebraska Work Ethic Camp has been charged with drug charges in Kansas.

According to the Rawlins County Square Deal, Darwin Sagel, 40, was arrested in McCook Monday following a search of his residence over the weekend.

Rawlins County Attorney Charles Peckham told the Square Deal the Rawlins County Sheriff's Department obtained a search warrant for Sagel's residence, located just south of the Nebraska line. The Nebraska State Patrol and the Kansas State Patrol assisted in the investigation.

Officers recovered a "substantial quantity of marijuana," Peckham told the newspaper.

Sagel has been charged in Kansas with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, a Level 3 drug felony.
