BARTLEY -- A 17-year-old Bartley boy suffered a minor head injury Sunday evening while hunting prairie dogs with friends southeast of Bartley.

Steven Salas was treated at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, and was at football conditioning this morning.

Red Willow County Sheriff's Lt. Alan Kotschwar said this morning the shooting occurred when, according to witnesses, the bullet ricocheted off something and struck Salas in the right temple area.

Salas's hunting partners transported Salas to his parents' home, and his parents took him to the hospital, Kotschwar said.

The boys were hunting prairie dogs with .22-caliber rifles, on the Will and Sherry Sughroue farm southeast of Bartley.
