William 'Bill' D. Line

STRATTON -- William "Bill" D. Line, 88, died Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at the Hester Home in Benkelman.
He was born Feb. 12, 1916, to Edward and Irene (Herzog) Line near Kearney. He lived near Wilsonville for a time, later moving to Culbertson and then near Trenton.
On April 3, 1937, he married Mae Swartz and in 1941 the couple moved to a farm near Stratton. Later they moved into Stratton where he operated full service filling stations for Standard Oil Co. for four years. He raised wheat and later alfalfa hay.
He volunteered at Grandview Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irma Line and Hazel Shepherd; and one brother, Albert.
Survivors include his wife, Mae of Stratton; daughter, Janice and husband, Michael Klein of Grants Pass, Ore.; son, Ronald E. Line and wife, Nina of Missoula, Mont.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Stratton with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Stratton Ambulance, Grandview Senior Center or the church of the donor's choice.
