SITEL McCook closing June
OMAHA -- SITEL Corporation, a leading global provider of outsourced customer support services based in Omaha, confirmed today the closing of its McCook contact center.
Ninety employees were notified today that the facility would close effective June 25, 2004.
Robert Camenzind, President of SITEL's NA Insurance Business Unit, stated, "We regret that we have to close our McCook facility," said Robert Caminzind, president of Sitel's NA Insurance Business Unit.
"The closure is due to changes in our business mix and, in no way, reflects on our employees at McCook or the community. We appreciate the years of loyalty from our employees and the support of the community."
"Obviously, we're saddened by the news, especially the loss of jobs," said Marie Owen of the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce. The McCook Economic Development Corp. "worked long and hard to recruit them here," Owen said, and she remembers the elation seven years ago when the ribbon was cut opening the facility on North Highway 83, now home to the McCook Radio Group. The company's current location, 302 E. First, will be closed permanently, according to company officials.
SITEL has been a great success in McCook, she said, and company officials have said they appreciated the McCook area's work ethic.
SITEL told McCook employees that it is contacting local employment agencies within the community in an effort to help them find other opportunities, as well as keeping internal postings active for positions in other locations.
SITEL has more than 31,000 employees in 82 global contact centers, utilizing more 25 languages and dialects to serve customers in 54 countries.
