CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. -- Roy William Williamson, 82, died Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at Eden Springs Nursing Home in Crawfordville, Fla.

He was born April 23, 1921, to Herbert and Jenny (Morris) Williamson on the family farm south of Stratton. He graduated from Stratton High School in 1939. In 1940, he traveled to California to learn the trade and skill of being a tool and die maker for an aircraft manufacturing company.

In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1945.

He worked and traveled in all 50 states and retired in Florida in 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Mary Lou, Opal and Ruth; and one brother, George.

Survivors include one son, Drew Williamson and wife, Kane of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Bernice Fillmore and husband, Joseph of Escondido, Calif., Roseanna Edgett and husband, Willard of Grand Prairie, Texas, Koda Reiman of Stratton; and one granddaughter.

Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton with the Rev. Bernard Lorenz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the American Legion Auxiliary -- William Egle Post No. 281 in Stratton.
