Hayes Center girls beat RV

Hayes Center revenged a 47-28 loss to Rep. Valley one week ago with 40-39 win over the Mustangs in the semifinals of the Cattle Trail Invite.

The Cardinals held off the Mustangs in the fourth quarter when Rep. Valley outscored Hayes Center 8-3.

The Cardinals got 10 points each from Mary Gohl and Sara Richter. Kayla Laird added 8 points and Amy Cox 6 points.

Jaime Coolidge and Savannah Noyes led Rep. Valley in the score column with 13 points each.

Caitlin Schaffert also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Six players scored for Hayes Center, while only 5 scored for the Mustangs.

Hayes Center improves to 3-1 on the season. Rep. Valley also moves to 3-1.

Dundy County 41, Medicine Valley 33

Dundy County remained undefeated on the season as it got past Medicine Valley 41-33.

The Tigers' Alison Glidden led all scorers with 21 points. Vanessa Shill chipped in 9 points.

For Medicine Valley, Taylor Wolfe tossed in 15 points and Kyle-Lynn Hughes added 9 points.

Medicine falls to 1-3.

Lakeside Central girls 42, Culbertson 41 OT

A week can make a lot of difference, but it wasn't enough for the Culbertson girls. Lakeside Central defeated Culbertson 47-28 last Friday and edged the Bears 42-41 in overtime of the consolation bracket of the Cattle Trail Invitational last night.

Culbertson used a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Lakeside Central 19-9, to force the game to the extra period.

Lakeside Central's Lacey Lewis led all scorers with 15 points. Jenna Faimon added 8 points, Lakin Cook 7 and Melany Keelick 6 for the Falcons.

Allison Smith finished with a double-double for Culbertson. Smith finished with 10 point and 18 rebounds. She also added 3 steals.

Teammate Michelle Slater added 8 points and 5 rebounds. Alyssa Cook, Constance Ferneau and Corin Hartzer each scored 6 points. Cook had 5 steals.

Each team hit 13-of-30 free throws.

"The girls played a great game," said Culbertson coach Barry Schaeffer. "I am very proud of how much this young team has improved over a short period of time."

Arapahoe picked up its first win of the season with a 55-27 defeat of Maywood.

Arapahoe was led by Carly Chapman's 14 points. Sarah Urbom scored 11 points. All 10 Warrior players scored on the night.

Crystal Zwickl was the only Tiger to finish in double figures. Zwickl had 14 points on the night, 4 baskets and 6-of-8 free throws.

Arapahoe improves to 1-3, while Maywood falls to 0-3.

BARTLEY--Eustis-Farnam remained undefeated on the young season with a 54-37 win over Twin Valley Friday night.

Christina Schroeder had a great night for Eustis-Farnam, finishing with 27 points.

Lisa Fagot and Chelsea Wolf each scored 8 points.

Halea Messersmith added 9 assists, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. Wolf pulled down 8 rebounds. Lauren Gengenbach added 3 assists and 2 steals.

Twin Valley was paced by Kayla McConville. McConville finished with 13 points. Amanda Weaver added 10.

Schroeder hit three 3-pointers for the Knights, while McConville hit two 3-pointers for the Raiders.

Twin Valley was 9-of-15 from the free throw line. Eustis-Farnam was 1-of-10.

Eustis-Farnam (3-0) will host Class D-1 number one Paxton tonight.

Twin Valley (1-1) played Maywood Tuesday.
