Walnut advice

Friday, December 5, 2003

Dear Editor,

To the writer who needed a quick easy way to get into a black walnuts -- (get) a couple of 2 x 4s about 12 feet long. measure and lay then down just far enough apart so a tire can run between them. Nail both ends together then lay down some yard sale bug screen and fill with nuts. I use my old rusty 3/4 (ton) van. (Drive) back and forth, then take out what had broken and (do it) once more. The bug screen allows easy pickup. Then turn on some radio tunes and spend an hour separating the good from the bad.

Many years back, I saw this in an organic magazine and is still the best I have ever found if you got a bunch to do!

So much past information is lost and forces every generations to relearn by trial and error.

So many things are no longer affordable to the poor in McCook, unless you do it for yourself. From food to collecting rain water, even my 1,000-pound pull hand-cranked winch sling shot was made for less than a dollar.
