Rev. Walter John Fredrick Klipp

GREELEY, Colo. -- Rev. Walter John Fredrick Klipp, 80, of Greeley, formerly of McCook, died Friday (Dec. 7, 2001) at the Northern Colorado Medical Center.

He was born April 26, 1921, at Wilton Junction, Iowa, to Adolph and Marie (Schacht) Klipp. He attended grade school at Lowden, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Milwaukee, Wis. He attended the seminary at Concordia in St. Louis, Mo., graduating in 1945.

On Sept. 14, 1948, he married DeLoris Usher at Carter, S.D. He was an ordained minister of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He served in 44 congregations in his more than 45 year career, including in McCook.

He was a circuit counselor for 40 years, and served on various district synodical mission and college boards. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, DeLoris of Greeley; two daughters, Kendra Cook of Oberlin, and LaVonne Gehrke of Gilbert, Ariz.; three sons, Dennis Klipp of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gary Klipp of Greeley, and Steven Klipp of Williams, Iowa; one brother, Carl Klipp of North English, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Trinity Lutheran Church School Building Fund in care of AFS, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.

Allnutt Funeral Service of Greeley was in charge of the arrangements.
