Mary Jo Dutton
BEAVER CITY -- Mary Jo Dutton, 55, died Saturday (Feb. 9, 2002) at the University Hospital in Omaha.
She was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Lincoln, to Eugene and Eileen (Hayes) Messersmith. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1965 and later attended Lincoln School of Commerce.
She began working for the United States Postal service in Indianola, Trenton and McCook before being appointed as the Postmistress of Beaver City in 1990.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Cambridge, the National Association of Postal Workers, Beaver City Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Builders. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include one son, John Dutton and wife, Kelly Mueller of Kearney; her mother, Eileen Messersmith of Cambridge; one brother Steve and wife, Renee Messersmith of Hastings; one sister, Janice and husband, Gary Shearer of Greeley, Colo.; and a special friend, Richard Taylor of Beaver City.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Cambridge. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge.
