Maryellen Stephens
OBERLIN -- Maryellen Stephens, 95, died Wednesday (July 31, 2002) at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born Dec. 1, 1906, to William Walter and Eliza Jane (Pocock) Weaver in Waverly, Kan. She grew up in Ottawa, Kan. Graduated from Ottawa High School and Ottawa Business College in 1925.
On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Raymond Matousek in Ottawa. The couple moved to Jennings, Kan., in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1978.
On Nov. 9, 1979, she married Clyde Stephens. She was a legal secretary.
She moved to the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin in 1987.
She was a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church and Royal Neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1978, her husband, Clyde in 1985 and one sister, Grace Chadwick.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Doris and husband, James Gilbert of Gem, Kan., and Clara Mae and husband, John Yokowemko of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one brother, Emanuel "Phil" Weaver of Scottsbluff.
Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings with Rev. Glen Krebs officiating. Interment will be at Big Timber Cemetery in Jennings.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday after 8 a.m., at the church in Jennings.
Memorial may be given in her name to Jennings United Methodist Church of Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
