Vera Delores Scott

Vera Delores Scott, 84, died Friday (Nov. 22, 2002) at her home in McCook.

She was born Dec. 8, 1917, to George Washington and Cora Jane (Jewell) Stoumbaugh, on a farm near St. Francis.

On Sept. 30, 1933, she married James L. Scott at Oberlin. They lived in the McCook community most of their married life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James L. Scott on Dec. 29, 2000; daughter, Caroline; son, George; two granddaughters; five brothers, Ernest, Fred, Gerald, William and George Stoumbaugh; two sisters, Pearl Cady and one in infancy; daughter-in-law, Edith Scott; and son-in-law, Wayne Anderson.

Survivors include two sons, James Scott and Rodger Scott both of McCook; three daughters, Cleotta Scott of Boise, Idaho, Verba Anderson of Trenton and Wanda Scott of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Goldie Hoit of Graham, Wash., and Ethel Clark of Reno, Nev.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name.
