Maryan Rosamond (Feese) Rider
WAUNETA -- Maryan Rosamond (Feese) Rider, 102, died Thursday (March 20, 2003) at Heritage of Wauneta in Wauneta.
She was born Dec. 24, 1900, to Urias D. and Elizabeth (Zerbe) Feese at Alma. She grew up on a farm north of Alma. She graduated from Alma High School in 1919. She acquired her teaching certificate after two summers of schooling at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, after which she taught for three years, one year in a country school near Alma and two years at the Stamford Public Schools.
On June 8, 1935, she married Frank E. Rider, a dentist, in Stamford. In 1926, they moved to Wauneta where he continued his dental practice for 60 years. During this time, they built and operated the Chateau Theatre in the evenings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; a son, Kenneth; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Gene and wife, Marilyn Rider of Wauneta; daughter-in-law, Marcia Rider of Imperial; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were today, 10:30 a.m. (MST), at the First United Methodist Church in Wauneta with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery of rural Wauneta.
A memorial fund has been set up for the Wauneta Senior Center.
