Where were the taxpayers?
Dear Editor,
When the boards make their decisions and the taxpayer complains, I will not feel sorry for the taxpayer.
I was the only person in the audience (at the Monday night meeting of the McCook Board of Education).
My question to the board is, why wasn't there public participation? Are the rules different than at a regular meeting? They did not even have the contract there so the new board members could see it. There was a question about vacation days. Why didn't they have the contract at the meeting?
The citizens of Red Willow County have no one to blame but themselves if the board does something they are not happy with.
I appreciate the work that the board members do, but I am dissatisfied with the public for not doing their part to help make the school system a better place for the education of the young people of McCook, Neb. I believe that the board members' work is not appreciated by some and the few that do aren't at the meetings.
Now that the school board is looking for a new superintendent, the public should help in any way to assist the school board in recruiting a new superintendent and attend the meetings for the sake of their childrens' education.
