The key

Friday, July 12, 2002

Dear Friend, What is the KEY word you need to know to get into Heaven? As you know a key is very important, you use it to unlock the door to your house and you need keys for many other things. Almost everyone wants to go to Heaven (in the U.S.A.). A missionary friend wrote from Russia recently, "In Russia everyone thinks they are going to Hell but in the United States everyone thinks they are going to Heaven."

Why? I've often said the Bible is the Word of God (the Very Word of God) and that God cannot lie. Why is it then that we will believe a lie rather than the truth? Why do we believe that if we live a good life, do good works, are baptized, take communion etc. that when we die God will let us into Heaven? Many counterfitters print bogus currency and some are very good at it. We call them criminals. So why do we think God will accept bogus currency to get us into Heaven? He won't. Titus 3:5 says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us." Matthew 7:13 says, " Enter (Heaven) through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction (Hell) and many are those who are entering through it. vs 14 "But the gate is narrow and the way is straitened that leads away to life and few there be that find it." Do you want to be one of the many or one of the few? The KEY word then is JESUS! You must have a strong and abiding faith that HE totally and completely paid the price for all of your sins. For a list of the catalog of sin see Galatians 5:19-21. "They that do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

If you are a good person, full of good works and you are depending on that to get you into Heaven, James 2:10 says, "For whoever keeps the law (as a) whole but stumbles and offends in one (single instance) has become guilty of breaking all of it." Remember, God cannot lie. All through the Bible we are exhorted to, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." Acts 16:31.

Won't you trust in HIM today as your personal Savior and receive the gift of eternal life (in Heaven)? Your Friend, Paul Schneider
