Keep MCC name
Dear Editor,
The following is an open letter to the Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors:
We believe that McCook Community College of the Mid-Plains Area should remain the moniker of our institution.
What is your rationale for changing the name?
What, actually, would be gained? Please defend your answer.
This "name change" has created much strife and dissension. Why alienate many constituents. Some "things" do not need to be changed for the sake of change.
Because we have the power of the vote, we can. No, that logic is flawed.
In some of your vision, this issue may appear as a molehill, but the citizens of Southwest Nebraska and alumni of MCC consider this to be a mountain of importance for many reasons. A mountain which can easily be resolved by allowing our 75-year-old institution to retain some autonomy be keeping the identity of McCook Community College.
May you contemplate Solomon's wisdom in your decision.
Sincerely,
Norma Stevens
